WORK BEGINS
Ron and Paul arrived on Easter Sunday in time for our ham dinner and birthday celebration for Larry. Since Paul and Ron were only coming for a few days they didn't bring a camper and stayed in the youth room at the church.
Janice's house was ready for us to start working at on Monday morning. We started getting the electric in the house. I'm learning to install receptacles,
and then Larry showed me how to put the wires in them.
Ron, Paul and Larry worked on the main circuit breaker box.
Dennis cutting a hole for the wires to go through.
Nancy feeding the wire.
It was great having Marilyn feeling better and able to work with us this week.
Ron and Paul putting in the main service connect.
Ron driving the ground rod in. That was hard work.
Dave did a lot of drilling of holes for all the wires.
Larry up on the roof installing the boot around the main service connect pole.
That sure was a bunch of wires Nancy is holding. They all have to go in that main circuit breaker box.
It was a nice warm day on Monday so we sat outside to eat our lunch, the rest of the week was cold and rainy. Notice the volunteers with Christian Aid sitting on the flat bed in the back, They were putting on the front and back porches.
We sure appreciated when the steps were done. One of the young men working on the porch was from Terry Hill, PA and another was from Philadelphia. Nice to see young people out volunteering.
The second bathroom they had made larger for her last week.
To work on the floor in these two rooms meant a lot of moving furniture.
Marilyn's wheel chair will work much better on her new tile floor.
Finally at two o'clock on Wednesday the Lowe's truck arrived.
We held our breath, hoping he made it to the porch safely. (Janice's home she is living in now in the background that will be demolished once we finish her new one.)
We were sure glad the young men from Christian Aid Ministry came over to help unload all that drywall. (64 12 foot sheets and a lot of other material)
We worked till 4 and got a lot of the insulation installed
Nancy cut it
Dennis hung it.
Thursday we made great progress. Dave and Marilyn finished the roof venting. ( Insulation will be blown in later)
I learned to use the staple gun.
Larry, Dennis and Dave put in the ceiling in the bedrooms.
That lift sure made it a lot easier!
Then the dry wall was hung on the walls and Nancy worked on screwing it on.
When we left we had two rooms almost finished drywalled. A good day's and week's work!
Tuesday night Carol treated us to homemade strawberry pie. Yummy!
Thursday night we all went to Russelville to Wayne's Catfish Haven for dinner.
Larry and I had stopped here on our way home last Thursday when we saw all the cars in the parking lot. We were so impressed by the music we wanted the team to enjoy it. Travis Wammack is the middle guitar player.
This area,, Muscle Shoals is famous for its music. All these musicians are well know in the area and have played with or written for many famous singers. They sure draw a crowd. It was a fun evening.
Larry and Carol are leaving. They sure got a lot done.
