WARM WEEK OF WORK

The weather this week was hot and sunny with temperatures in the 90's.

Bill painted the eves and the fascia around two of the cottages.
Caren and I were glad to get out of the sun and stuff sofa pillows into their cases.

The sprinkler system control box had sunk too low in the ground, so it was dug out and raised up so it would be level with the lawn.
Elaine continued working at the Bargain Boutique. We all enjoy shopping here and getting some food at discount prices, especially some yummy chocolates.
Finally she got to sort jewelry, but I think she liked packaging candy better.
The plastic shield into the basement needed to be replaced, so they could see through it with the fork lift.( Left side is old the right we had replaced) This had to be done after hours when they weren't unloading trucks and going in and out the entrance.
Robert, Larry and I worked on it.
Wow you can see through it to the other side!

We  started the week with finishing digging the holes for the trees. Walter and Robert helping us dig, it sure went a lot faster with them digging. We missed Anita this week, for her dad (93) was in the hospital and see had to stay with him. Walter was gone some of the days to give her some help.

Holes were dug, some of the dirt put back in and then we planted the trees.
Two trees planted, Robert gave them lots of water.
Bill put in a concrete mow strip by the cafeteria. Ogie gave him a helping hand.

The form was built so the concrete could be put in when the truck arrived.

Concrete dried, wood removed and dirt evened out. Looks great.

When the concrete truck came they filled in the driveway that we had to remove last week to put in the french drain. Another job finished.
Gene and Walter replacing a fascia board at one of the cottages.
Walter had to build a back for this bench.

We found two more bathrooms for Ogie to paint.

We had scraped this board and then Caren painted it.
The paint shed was a big project this week. Robert the maintenance supervisor kept telling us it was only a paint shed.
I helped scrap off the old paint.
Gene tore off some  of the roof that was rotting.
Some of the rotten boards on the side were removed and new boards put on.
After Walter, Gene and robert intalled the new portion of roof, Gene applied some tar.
The building was painted and roof fixed by the end of the week.
Saturday Larry and I went to San Anita Park.
We listened to this seminar and heard who they thought might be the winning horse in each of the 9 races.
The trumpet sounded so neat announcing the entrance of the horses for each race.
Some of the races were on dirt and some on turf. We had a fun day at the races.
On Palm Sunday we all went to the San Dimas Methodist Church.  Last period the NOMADS  worked here and they were very grateful for all the work they accomplished. It is a very small congregation.
