FUN IN BASTROP

We work Monday thru Thursday and have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to explore the area.  On Friday we went to look for new work boots for Larry at Cabela's in Buda which is near Austin. Some of the roadway construction is very impressive. On one of the expressways the speed was 80 mph!
Sorry for the sideways poster. We were at DQ and saw a poster advertising this high school production of Beauty and the Beast. Marilyn, Richard, Larry and I enjoyed the show on Friday night.
Those of us that went to the Bastrop Methodist church on Sunday went to the Brewhouse for lunch.
We ate on the porch overlooking the Colorado River.  left to right Marilyn, Richard, Larry and Huguette (new NOMADS from Ontario, Canada), and Dan.
This movie is being passed around because it was filmed at the Bastrop Methodist Church. It is a true story about a man who lived in Carthage, TX. It is an interesting story. Many movies have been filmed around this area.
Sounds of Sharing was a concert to benefit the Bastrop County emergency food pantry. Ron DeShay was the producer and director of the concert. He is from Bastrop but  is known for producing American Idol.
Jerry Fay Wilhelm Center for the Performing Art is part of the high school in Bastrop.

Ruben Studdard won the second season of American Idol.
