THE WORK CONTINUES

Down the street from where we have been working is this African American Military History Museum. Larry and I went there last weekend and was very impressed. It is very informative and interactive. The building was the USO for the African Americans during WWII and has been in use ever since.
Our team has not changed since last week. From left to right is Dawn, Ron, Nula, Dan, Dottie, Larry,Cindy and Tony. Nula has been having a lot of problems with nerves in her leg and just been about able to walk let alone work, so that is why you haven't seen her in any of my earlier posts. Please keep her in prayers.
We started drywalling this room on Monday.
Another fireplace to frame up and cover with drywall.
Monday night the Hattiesburg Golden Corral honored the Veterans and all Military with a free meal.
They did an excellent job of hosting everyone, and there was a very large crowd. There even was a posting of the colors.
All of the men in our group were veterans. Thanks to all that served.
Dan, Dawn and Ron finished the house on 4th St on Monday. So Tuesday morning we presented Kenya the Bible that all of the NOMADS who worked on her house had signed. She appreciated it and is thrilled with her house and thanks all who worked on it.
The kitchen sure looks different then when the NOMADS started.
Afterwards we all went to work at the house on 6th St. Darrell had brought  us a kerosene heater at the end of the day yesterday. We enjoyed warming up to it at break. It has been in the 20's the last two mornings but warming to 50's or more during the day. It is colder in the house then out in the sun.
Dan built a barrier on the porch so no one would fall into the electric coming into the house.  But we still didn't have any electric in the house at the end of the week. We were glad for generators.
Dawn and Ron worked on insulating the back porch area. Tony worked on getting the floor down and walls drywall in the bathroom.

Cindy and I worked on putting the dry wall around the bottoms of all the walls.
By Thursday our team was down to four. Ron's knee was really hurting him on Wednesday and he went to an urgent care. He got a shot but is going to need an operation, so they are going to be leaving early.  The work Tony did on Wednesday caused his hip to really hurt so he thought it best if he didn't push it on Thursday.
Dan built a box around the pipes in the two rooms.
Larry covered the box with drywall.
Dan fixed up the closet in the bedroom, He framed the opening to fit a door, dropped the ceiling and then we drywall it.
The laundry room and porch were drywalled by the end of the week so all the dry walling is completed and we can start mudding.
Darrell worked on  Thursday afternoon to try to get the plumbing ready so we could have some water next week.
Thursday night we went to Leatha's for barbecue. ( Cindy was on her way to New Orleans for the weekend.)
The only pigs that are safe.
It was a delicious meal of ribs and pulled pork.
Ron enjoyed every bite but saved some for the next day on their travels. They are headed to Texas where he can have an operation on his knee. We will have him in our prayers.
Friday Larry and I went to the Gulf Coast. We had worked here ten years ago after Katrina and it was nice seeing all the recovery. They are very appreciative for all of the volunteers that came to help.
